Projects

I am on sabbatical AY 18/19. I’m currently focused on integrating microeconomic theory and experiments into multidisciplinary collaborations to build practical applications, usually in partnership with local social and public services.

  • I direct the Pitt Smart Living Human Behavior lab (NSF #1739413). Our goal is to design incentives to change public transit utilization. This project is in collaboration with University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information.
  • I am also part of the Pitt Wage Study team. We study micro-level effects of union negotiated wage increases on low wage workers at Allegheny General Hospital. This project is in collaboration with University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work.
  • I am working with labor economists Osea Giuntella and Rania Ghileb and Allegheny County Department of Human Services on Children, Youth, and Family services.
  • I am working with experimental economists Ragan Petrie and Marco Castillo and the nonprofit Foundation of Hope on social service utilization among ex-inmates.
  • Political scientists Rebecca Morton and Kai Ou, economists Gumilang Sahadewo, Xiangdong Qin and I are writing up our multi-country experiment on the effect of religious prohibition on economic behavior.
